Our Mission

We are the first organization in Wisconsin devoted to supporting young film visionaries in the Milwaukee area—and beyond. Our mission is to celebrate and showcase their achievements in film with an annual film festival and awards ceremony.

What’s Special About Milwaukee?

Aside from being the place the founders are from, Milwaukee is the largest city in Wisconsin, a state that’s fast becoming a hub for the independent film industry. Last year, legislation that supports the growth of the film industry was passed in this state, and many are now enjoying the benefits. (Read more on the Film Wisconsin website.)

A variety of urban and natural settings, proximity to Lake Michigan, and a diverse population provide the raw materials many filmmakers are now choosing to realize their artistic vision.

We want to see young filmmakers grow up in our state, or come from other states to learn here, and share skills with others. And then, we want them to stick around and add value to our communities through their work.
